Does it make me weird...

Does it make me weird that I am more worried about the catheter, not being able to properly wash my hair, and being bored to tears post-op than I am about the actual surgery?

If you have any suggestions for things to do post-op that don't involve lifting anything over 10 pounds, reaching, or straining your neck...please offer!

Hi!!!
My names Kristen...
I just happened to come across your journal while I was doing more and more research for my upcoming decompression surgery that's scheduled for January 13th 2009, and THIS blog made me giggle. I FEEL THE SAME WAY!! The catheter and not being able to wash my hair have me more freaked out than my whole upcoming surgery!!!!

Thank you for posting this blog... its fabulous for people who could use a little insight :)

Hello!
I've been doing research for MY upcoming surgery on January 9, 2009.
I too had to laugh while reading your blog. I hadn't the slightest clue what to expect from pre-op (they told me to plan on 7 hours!)-thank you for a little insight!
In fear of sounding silly, I didn't even think of the catheter...I'm worried about my shaved head. Wish I would have done this in the 80's when the style was popular-HA!!
Thanks again for your post, it really has made me feel a lot better! :)

I had chiari malformation type 1 decompression surgery when I was 13 years old (I'm now 19 years old)...

I was the same way you were when it came to having the surgery. I was more concerned about being bored post-op than I was about the actual surgery. I ended up sleeping alot right after surgery though so I didn't have much type to be bored. haha

This is just my story of my experience with Chiari. Until I was diagnosed, I'd never heard of it, and I just want more people to be aware of it. I'm not a doctor, so don't quote me on any of this stuff - k? If you are looking for information about Chiari Malformation, a lot of the more informative posts are the older ones.
